On June 10, 2004 I received this letter, dated June 4, 2004:

Dear Mr. Earp,

It has come to the attention of Heartland AEA that our web site is being used in an online portfolio representing your work. While at Heartland, you were employed for the express purpose of creating the Heartland web. It is understood that you may use examples from your work at Heartland to market your work. those examples however, cannot be represented in browser executable HTML code. Remember that the work and the HTML code you authored while employed with us is the property of Heartland AEA and continued unlawful use is considered a copyright violation. Specifically, a web page currently posted at the address: http://www.timeswebsite.net/web/aea.html contains browser executable HTML code. Please refrain immediately from improperly using the Heartland web site and linking to Heartland URL codes. should you have any questions regarding these restrictions please contact me at 515/270-9030 x4318.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Owenson, J.D.
Director of Human resources

I would like to point out:

1. "that our web site is being used in an online portfolio representing your work." It is not your web site anymore. Your site has been redesigned and the logo has been changed. I was not using your web site. I was showing something I did for you four years ago and in no way looks like your web site now.

2. "and linking to Heartland URL codes" There was no spot in my example of my work that linked to ANY Heartland URL. They were all dead links.

Thanks for your understanding.
